Keto-friendly fish moi moi

If you’re craving moi moi, but don’t want the added carbs that beans offers, then you have to check this recipe out. Plus with this recipe, there is no need to soak anything overnight and start shelling. This is simple, straightforward and can be done in 45 minutes or less.

Equipment you will need for this

  • Blender
  • Moi moi steam cups
  • Pot or steamer



  • 1 Smoked mackerel (Titus) or Kote fish
  • 1 Bell pepper
  • 1 Cayenne pepper
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 Seasoning cube
  • 2 Tablespoons of palm oil
  • 2 Eggs
  • Pinch of ginger
  • 1  Tablespoon of crayfish
  • 2 Tablespoonful of onions


1. Wash, debone and shred the fish by hand
2. Add all the listed ingredients and blend until the mixture becomes a smooth paste
3. Transfer the paste into the steam cups
4. Add water to a pot, and stack the steam cups as you would when cooking moi moi
5. Cook for about 20 minutes
